We received the following message from Wa’el al-Faqih (a leader of the non-violent resistance in Nablus and an ISM coordinator) on the occasion of the anniversary of Rachel Corrie’s murder by an Israeli bulldozer driver in 2003. Since December, Wa’el has been imprisoned without charge by the Israeli occupation forces. Read the latest on his case here. — ISM London
From inside the prisons of the occupation… From behind bars: we will not forget the day 16 March… Where the assassination of U.S. member of the International Solidarity Movement, Rachel Corrie. This is another piece of evidence of the barbarism of the occupation and Israel’s crimes, and exposes international inaction towards the Palestinian cause.
She was killed because she decided to defend the people of Palestine, the children of Palestine
Rachel: we will never forget…

Amended, 17th March. An earlier version of this article stated that Wa’el had been held “without trial”. For the purpose of clarity, this was amended to “without charge”. Wa’el has had several hearings before a military officer, but no trial. For more details, see the latest news on the main ISM website.
